Hilton Smythe welcomes to the market Timbers Restaurant, which was established by our client in the 1980’s as a tea shop just a few yards away from where Timbers sits today.
The restaurant has been in its current location since 2000. Our client is now looking forward to a well-earned retirement. Timbers is licensed for up to 100 guests and they also cater as a private hire venue for weddings, birthdays and buffets etc. Along with a fully licenced bar and dance floor Timbers offers the perfect venue for any occasion. Throughout the year the business run a series of Tribute evenings from a Buddy Holly night to a World War Two and Cockney night all of which include a 2 course meal.
They usually run one a month and have acts booked for the next year, these events get booked out. To the front of the premises is a large lawn with several A frame benches, ideal for afternoon tea and much more from the many walk in customers from the local craft centre. Timbers often caters for coach parties and offers a coach party menu, alongside the regular menu, which include afternoon tea, breakfast, daytime/lunch and evening meals and a Sunday menu. There are also specific menus for different events throughout the year including Valentines and Christmas.
The customer base is varied, from visitors to the craft centre who call in for a cup of tea to many regular repeat customers who call in weekly. The tribute nights are usually full and the customer base for these events are a mix of regulars and new. Timbers has 4.2/5 reviews on Google and 4.4/5 on Facebook, the business is being sold with the website www.timbersrestaurant.co.uk , where you can book your table on line, check out upcoming events and read the menus.
Timbers is a profitable business, however, there is scope for development by considering the following
- Ideal for an owner operator as our client draws a wage, but only works a few hours on site per week
- Reconsider opening hours, the restaurant closes at 5pm Monday – Thursday and Sunday.
- 3. Continue and look to increase tribute and themed nights as these currently bring in approximately 50% of the profit.
The business is run by a manager, with the help of 3 full time members of staff, 2 being chefs.
There are 11 part time waiter staff. Our client works a few hours a week and our client’s daughter is the main book keeper for the business and works on a part time basis. Our client’s daughter would be willing to stay on if required.
Monday to Thursday 9am to 5pm Friday and Saturday 9.30am to 7.30pm Sunday 9.30am to 5pm The restaurant is open longer on event evenings and can be open longer hours all week.
